How bad is soft drink for your teeth?

Miss Watson had two wisdom teeth removed in the holidays. She decided to forfeit her tooth fairy money and bring them to school. We did an experiment to see how bad coca-cola really is for your pearly whites. We put one tooth in a container of coca-cola, and one in a container of water. After 7 days the tooth in the water stayed much the same, but the tooth in the coca-cola turned a horrible brown colour... and was SLIMY! GROSS! The tooth fairy won't want that one!

Dental Hygiene tips from Room 3
  • "Don't drink lots of fizzy drinks - only on special occasions" - Finn
  • "Brush your teeth two times a day - after breakfast and before you go to sleep" - Harry
  • "Drink lots of water" - John
  • "Fruit and vegetables like apples, carrots and celery are good for your teeth" - Coco
  • "Always try to have a healthy diet" - Rhiannon
  • "If you have been eating or drinking sugary or acidic things, drink water and wait awhile before brushing your teeth to protect the enamel"- Xavier

  1. WOW! That certainly shows us a thing or two. Glad I can't leave my teeth soaking in Coca-cola. We would all be better off having water drinks. Thanks for sacrificing your teeth for the experiment Miss Watson.
